Terms of Service

Last updated: August 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of Captiono (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the Service.

The Service

Captiono is a free, browser-based tool for generating, styling, and exporting video captions. It's provided to you without charge, without an account, and without any guaranteed level of availability or support.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Captiono only for lawful purposes. In particular, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service to process, caption, or distribute content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
  • Use the Service to create captions for unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or fraudulent content.
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service's normal operation.
  • Use automated means to abuse or overload the Service or the infrastructure that supports it.

Your Content

You retain all rights to the video, audio, transcripts, and captioned videos you create using Captiono. We claim no ownership over your content and, as described in our Privacy Policy, your video file is processed entirely on your own device and is never uploaded to us. Only the audio track is sent, over an encrypted connection, to generate your transcript, and it is not retained afterward. You are solely responsible for the content you create and export using the Service, and for making sure you have the rights necessary to use, caption, and distribute it.

No Warranty

Captiono is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that transcription will be error-free, that the Service will be uninterrupted or available at all times, or that any output will meet your specific requirements. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting captions before publishing or relying on them.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Captiono and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Because the Service is offered free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the Service is limited to zero.

Changes to the Service or These Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these terms from time to time; when we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
